POETRY
Poetry is a word of Greek origin whose meaning is “to make, to create”;a poem is something created and the poet is the creator.
Poetry was born as an oral form, accompanied by music and dance; it expressed life events that people regarded as memorable such as: births, deaths, brave actions, battles, natural disasters, etc. Over the centuries poetry has taken a variety of printed forms: epic poems, short lyrical poems, experimental poems.
A POETIC TEXT is a meaningful text with particular visual, musical, linguistic aspects ( each single word – sound – punctuation mark is meaningful). It makes free use of words and a careful choice of language, creating original association of words and meanings. A poem is an organic unit where the elements – sounds, layout, language – interact with one another and with the reader, to give universal meaning to personal experience.
